Bonjour! My name is Santiago Jacques Pelletier but I go by Jacques. I am an exchange student at 上智大学/Sophia University in Tokyo.
I am French citizen born in Mexico. My father emigrated from Paris to Mexico City as a lawyer, where he met my mother. During all of my childhood, my parents worked hard on conserving the french heritage and got me into a french school in Mexico City, where I studied until high school, culminating in getting the official Baccalauréat scientific section with honors. I am now studying two degrees, Economics Honors and Finance, at the University of Texas at Austin.
I am very adaptable and flexible, which I always try to convey this through my teaching. I try to see students' areas of interest, as well strengths and weaknesses, in order to craft a teaching method adapted to the student, and not have the student adapt to me. I am genuinely interested in having you learn, as through my international experience I have seen that speaking another language is not only a tool, but also a window into a different world.
Looking forward to meeting you!
I will adapt to the needs of the students. Should the students wish to emphasize conversational speech, I will bring themes to talk about. Should the student wish to improve grammar, I will bring exercise books and organizational grammatical charts. If there is an interest in Verbs/Vocabulary, I will bring books and leave a list of words the students needs to memorize and use for the next session.
Have had previous professional experience at one of the Big Four accounting firms, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as a sales operations intern. There I was working in the French Desk in Mexico, which required me to use very specific business French, Spanish and English. I was the communications officer for a civil organization working against corruption in Mexico. There I coordinated public communications through Facebook, Twitter, and E-Mail.
I have had countless international experiences, such as student exchanges in Frankfrut to learn German and now currently in Tokyo to learn Japanese. I attended a french school all my life and then headed to university in the United States, which is where i currently study.
I have previously been involved in a multitude of volunteer service. I have been involved with kids to teach them subjects ranging from Math to using basic computer programs. Additionally, I am an economics mentor at my home university, teaching and helping freshmen and sophomores about the university and economics and finance.
